The truck arrives to a home that is already boxed and ready to load.
Booking the pack a day or two ahead is not a scheduling quirk, it is what keeps your belongings safe. Our packing team needs adequate time to prepare items correctly, and a rushed pack is how things get broken. If your situation requires packing and moving on the same day, call us and we will do our best to work with it.
How We Protect
Your Items
Packing supplies are part of the service. Our supply fee covers bubble wrap, packing paper, tape, and similar materials, and box costs apply on a per-used basis for the boxes your home actually needs.
A few items get specific treatment. Televisions must be transported in a properly fitted TV box, so if you no longer have the original packaging we will need to supply one. Mattresses go into heavy-duty mattress bags at $10 each. Furniture is wrapped in moving blankets and stretch wrap before it goes on the truck. Unpacking at Your
New Place
Packing is only half of it. We can also unpack upon arrival at your new location, so the boxes we filled get emptied rather than left stacked in a hallway. Ask about adding unpacking when you request your estimate.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does packing a house cost?
This varies widely based on the home's size and the amount of items within the home. Some homes are minimally furnished, while others are much more densely packed, which often occurs when the home has been occupied for a longer time. Can Thunder Moving pack only certain items or rooms?
Absolutely! We routinely pack only certain areas for our customers – most regularly, the dreaded kitchen pack! We can do as little or as much as you need.
Can Thunder Moving provide packing and moving services on the same day?
Unfortunately, this is not possible in most cases. Our packing team needs adequate time to ensure items are packed and prepared correctly, so we usually schedule packing services for one or two days before the move day, depending on the amount of packing that needs to be done. If you have a specific need to pack and move on the same day, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Are there any items that Thunder Moving can't pack or transport?
We are unable to pack or transport sensitive items such as medications, firearms and ammunition, flammable or hazardous items, jewelry, currency, or important documents. Please make arrangements to pack these items on your own and transport them – we can assist with loading and unloading them into your vehicle if you need help!
DO I NEED TO PROVIDE MY OWN BOXES?
No. We supply boxes and bill them on a per-used basis, so you only pay for what your home actually needs. If you have already collected boxes of your own, we are happy to pack into those.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I SCHEDULE PACKING?
Book packing at the same time you book your move, especially in the busy summer months. The packing itself is then scheduled for one or two days before your move date.
DO YOU OFFER UNPACKING AS WELL?
Yes. Unpacking upon arrival at your new location is part of the full range of services we offer. Mention it when you request your estimate so it can be included in your quote.
