Thunder Moving cannot provide blankets or cinching straps on one way moves such as PODS or rental trucks that we are not unloading. Please make arrangements to have these items before the day of the move to ensure your belongings are protected.
HOW OUR LABOR-ONLY MOVERS LOAD A TRUCK
Most damage on a DIY move doesn’t happen while carrying things. It happens on the road, when a load that looked fine in the driveway shifts at the first hard stop. Our crews load in tiers: appliances and the heaviest furniture against the front wall, mattresses and tabletops on edge along the sides and boxes stacked heavy on the bottom and light on top, with each tier secured before the next one starts.
We fill gaps with cushions and bagged linens so nothing has room to slide, which usually means you fit more into a smaller truck. Unloading gets the same care in reverse. Tell us which rooms things belong in, and the crew will place furniture, stack boxes where you want them and put bed frames back together before they leave.

Can you hire movers just to unload a truck?
Yes. Unload-only jobs are common. Our crew can meet your truck or container at the new home, unload it, set furniture in the right rooms and reassemble beds.
Can I hire movers without a truck?
Yes. That’s what labor-only moving is. You rent the truck or container, and our crew loads it, unloads it or both. You pay for the crew’s time, not ours on the road.
How many hours do I need for a labor-only move?
It depends on how much you’re moving and how the load is staged. A studio or one-bedroom often takes two to three hours for a two-person crew. Larger homes, stairs and long carries add time. Tell us your home size when you request an estimate and we’ll recommend a crew size.
Do your labor-only movers bring equipment?
Our crews bring dollies and the tools needed to take furniture apart and put it back together. On one-way loads we can’t supply blankets or cinching straps, so plan to have those with your truck or container.
Can you load a PODS container?
Yes. We load PODS, U-Pack and similar containers regularly. We keep heavy items low and centered and secure the load in sections so it rides safely.
Can you help move furniture within my home?
